I have a Ph.D. in Sociology and am a Professor of Sociology & Criminology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. I am originally from Maine, and have documented my genealogy as far as my 10th great grandparents. My scholarly interests have included restorative justice, violence against women, capital punishment, wrongful convictions, gendered and racial injustices and the historical harms therein. I am a restorative justice advocate and practitioner and was awarded a Senior Scholar Fulbright Fellowship at the Australian National University in 2001 to study restorative justice there. In addition to that, I am a daughter, a mother, an aunt, a cousin, and a community activist. I am devoted to social justice, truth telling, and making amends. Thank you for your interest in my blog.
